The Engineering Department has an opening for a Field Technician who will enjoy being out and about documenting project progression and completion on subdivision construction, commercial projects, and city projects. The successful candidate in this position will need to be self-motivated and capable of working independently.. As a Field Technician, you will also spend time in the office utilizing software to document and track projects and building permits. The successful candidate will need to be able to read and analyze asphalt testing reports, lab reports and inspection reports to ensure conformance to City standards and specifications. Below is a snapshot of duties:

  • Review plans prior to site visits for subdivision construction & commercial projects; complete correction notices, inspection logs, and other documentation as directed.
  • Review inspection & testing reports for subdivision construction & commercial projects, document & track progress of projects.
  • Provide accurate record keeping and detailed documentation of projects.
  • Follow processes while working on ways to review, refine and improve processes and procedures.
  • Attend meetings for subdivision and commercial project review.
  • Approve qualifying sidewalk grant applications and communicate with customers and contractors throughout entire application and construction process.
  • Work cooperatively with contractors and industry partners toward successful completion of projects.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license; two years of work experience in either inspection, construction, testing; or any equivalent combination of skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

An associates degree in Engineering or a related technical field is preferred. If you are a rockstar and have your Western Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction (WAQTC) Asphalt 1 certification, that would be excellent as well.
