Overview
We're not just building better tech. We're rewriting how data moves and what the world can do with it. With Confluent, data doesn't sit still. Our platform puts information in motion, streaming in near real-time so companies can react faster, build smarter, and deliver experiences as dynamic as the world around them.
It takes a certain kind of person to join this team. Those who ask hard questions, give honest feedback, and show up for each other. No egos, no solo acts. Just smart, curious humans pushing toward something bigger, together.
One Confluent. One Team. One Data Streaming Platform.
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced engineer to join our cloud security team and lead efforts in up-leveling Confluent's cloud security maturity. In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to leverage your software engineering and cloud security experience to build some of the foundational services and controls that keep our infrastructure secure. Experience in developing tools and automation will be key to success as we scale our environments to meet customer demand. You will work closely with peers in the wider Trust & Security organization, and partner closely with engineers across the company.
We intend to be the world's best, fastest, and most complete stream processing service built by an excellent team, all while having fun – join us on the journey!
What You Will Do:
Develop internal services and tools to find and surface vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and violations of best practices for developers across the Engineering team
Design and implement automated solutions to monitor the security posture of our cloud environments
Utilize IaC (infrastructure as code) to enable secure-by-default configurations that establish and improve security baselines
Perform security reviews of internal infrastructure and products for partner teams in Confluent Engineering
Participate in a security on-call rotation where you'll triage and remediate security incidents, working alongside engineering teams
Contribute to strategy and prioritization for engineering efforts around cloud security
What You Will Bring:
7+ years of relevant industry experience in a security engineering or infrastructure security team
Strong coding proficiency in Python or Go
Demonstrated experience in developing internal services and tooling for vulnerability management and cloud security posture management
Experience deploying solutions for monitoring of best practices in cloud resources, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes platforms
Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc)
Familiarity with more than one cloud vendor (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus
Ability to work alongside a remote team, using a data-driven mindset to propose and own engineering decisions.
Ready to build what's next? Let's get in motion.
