Summary
Canyon Ridge High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our athletic department as a Softball Varsity Assistant Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of the game, a passion for coaching, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for our student-athletes. This is a seasonal position that will run throughout the softball season, with responsibilities focused on skill development, team dynamics, and game preparation.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and implementing effective practice sessions that enhance player skills and team performance.
- Provide instruction on fundamental techniques and strategies of softball to athletes at varying skill levels.
- Support the head coach in developing game strategies and preparing the team for competitions.
- Help manage team logistics, including scheduling practices, organizing transportation, and coordinating game-day activities.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among players.
- Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and encourage a balance between athletics and academics.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration to promote transparency and collaboration.
- Assist in the evaluation of player performance and provide constructive feedback to help athletes improve.
- Uphold the policies and regulations set forth by the school, district, and governing athletic associations.
- Attend coaching clinics, workshops, and meetings as required to stay informed about best practices in coaching and player development.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience in softball, preferably at the high school level or higher.
- Strong understanding of the game, including rules, strategies, and training techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with athletes, parents, and staff.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to reach their full potential both on and off the field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing team logistics and activities.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season).
- Must pass a background check in accordance with school district policies.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the season, including practices and games.
- A commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all student-athletes.
All recommendations for hire are tentative offers. Employment is contingent upon board approval and successful completion of federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment "at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.
