POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor is a coach, mentor, and facilitator for quality assurance activities. The QA Supervisor will aid in maintenance of procedures for testing raw material and finished products; organize and promote plant quality assurance improvement efforts; establish and maintain a records keeping system that is in compliance with plant, state, and federal record keeping requirements. In addition, the QA Supervisor will develop reports that measure product compliance and drive cost improvement. This position will represent the organization when dealing with customers and regulatory agencies. As a result, he or she must have sound written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with individuals and organizations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with organizing, coordinating, and monitoring the Quality Systems - FSMA, GMP's, SQF certification, along with leading teams associated with these programs.
• Assist in evaluating and monitoring ingredients, packaging and process suppliers to ensure they meet Idaho Milk Products QA standards.
• Participate in all State, FDA, USDA, customer and 3rd party audits.
• Train QA lab technicians on testing procedures, SOPs and job expectations.
• Responsible for auditing along with QA Director the SQF, Food Safety, and Quality Plans.
• Evaluate and Grade product and determine product distribution based on customer requirements.
• Work with plant management to track plant performance to key performance indicators (KPI's)
• Assist with ensuring customer specifications are being met, if not help with investigating complaints and responses.
• Assist with ensuring that all employees have adequate knowledge of our GMP and Food Safety programs and provide training.
• Lead monthly GMP and Housekeeping audits of the facility.
• Utilize MVP tools to drive improvements in Quality systems.
• Maintain record keeping systems to track and trend food safety systems' data related to HACCP, SSOP and prerequisite program documentation.
• Regularly review documented corrective actions and preventive measures for the SSOP and HACCP programs to ensure that the intention of the regulatory requirements are met.
• Maintain Production and Laboratory records in accordance to regulatory agencies requirements.
• Work with QA staff to ensure safe workplace practices and lab best practices.
• Manages the QA lab technicians.
• Lead product release and customer documentation generation

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor's Degree a plus
• PCQI, SQF, HACCP, Food Defense

Experience:

• 5 years of technical experience of which at least two years should be in laboratory setting
• 3 years of experience managing personnel and complex activities
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a Dairy Quality Assurance lab

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Advanced Microbiological Skills.
• Advanced Computer Skills.
• Advanced skills in Excel, Access & DSI.
• Should be a self starter with little need for Supervision.

Physical Requirements:

• Subject to up to at least 92db's
• Lifting: up to 20 lbs. occasionally
• Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, on a regular basis
• Reaching: Extending hands and arms in any direction
• Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist occasionally
