General Merchandise Expert

Starting hourly rate: $15.00 USD per hour

The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

As a General Merchandise Expert, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include:

• Creating a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you are completing your daily tasks.
• Engaging with guests in a welcoming way, to help solve their specific needs.
• Thanking guests and letting them know we're happy they chose to shop at Target.
• Executing daily tasks assigned to you by your leader to help achieve goals that align with business priorities including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Executing processes including changing prices to products, merchandise set-up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed by your leader for all areas.
• Learning how operational procedures, such as setting up and organizing merchandise, managing product stock levels, and maintaining sales floor areas, affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Being knowledgeable about the resources, products, and services available in the total store, and specific to your area, to solve issues for the guest and improve their experience.
• Demonstrating a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
• Working in a safe manner at all times; complying with all safety policies, best practices, and training; reporting hazards and correcting where possible.
• Supporting guest services such as back-up cashier, and digital fulfillment processes (such as picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders to guests) and maintaining compliance culture while executing those duties, such as federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
• All other duties based on business needs.

• Ability to communicate on multiple-frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.

• Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
• Attention to detail and follow a multi-step process.
• Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.

We expect the following from our team:

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Climb up and down ladders.
• Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from others.
• Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays) reliable and prompt attendance necessary.
• Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).
