The City of Twin Falls is hiring Emergency Communication Officers to answer emergency and non-emergency calls, process requests, and provide lifesaving instructions as needed. This position involves working 10- or 12-hour shifts in a 24-hour environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Starting Pay:

  • Entry Level: $21.97/hour
  • After training completion: $25.14/hour
Sign-On Bonus:
  • $1,250 after hire
  • $1,250 upon becoming an independent call taker
  • $2,500 after one year of employment

Qualifications:
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be at least 18 years old at the time of application
  • Possess a valid state-issued driver's license
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Complete POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) Certification within 18 months of hire
  • Successfully complete three training phases (about 16 weeks total)
  • Have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Prior experience in emergency dispatch or communications is desirable but not required
  • Visible tattoos must comply with the department's tattoo policy
Automatic Disqualifiers:
  • Marijuana use in past year
  • Controlled substance use in past five years
  • Felony convictions as an adult
  • DUI in past two years or more than one in five years
  • More than five traffic violations in past three years

After an application is submitted, applicants must complete the Criticall computer assessment and may be invited for an interview. A thorough background check, psychological evaluation, polygraph, and drug/hearing test are required. POST Basic Certification must be completed within 18 months of hire.
