Essential Functions

  • Assist in fulfilling responsibilities under the CDC Public Health Emergency Preparedness Sub-Grant;
  • Support the design, manage, and analyze data collection systems and generate reports using platforms such as WebEOC, ArcGIS, EMResource, and SharePoint;
  • Support assessment initiatives by helping develop and analyze surveys, questionnaires, and data collection tools;
  • Assist in development and maintenance of the Public Health Preparedness Plan, associated sub-plans, and operational playbooks;
  • Help evaluate the potential impacts of alternate plans and strategies under supervision;
  • Conduct preliminary data reviews and assist in analyzing trends to support forecasting and project identification;
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to small groups and assist senior staff with larger group presentations;
  • Assist with the development, coordination, and delivery of emergency exercises and training events, help prepare After-Action Reports (AARs) and Improvement Plans (IPs);
  • Assist in planning and conducting projects, workshops, and other training events as part of a team;
  • Assist with tracking progression of improvement plans;
  • Track District Personnel training records;
  • Assist with coordination of Medical Reserve Corp unit;
  • Support coordination efforts with local, regional, state, and national stakeholders;
  • Perform Incident Management Team duties as assigned and assist with emergency response activities;
  • Share consistent and relevant information and keep manager informed;
  • Model professionalism: Interact with integrity and respect in all situations, maintaining composure under pressure;
  • Lead by example: Uphold a culture of accountability, professionalism, and ethical behavior by avoiding office politics and gossip.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) education level or equivalent combination of education and experience in fields such as Emergency Response Services, which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities;
  • Basic knowledge of public health programs and their functions;
  • Familiarity with planning principles and practices used in program or project planning (coursework or limited experience acceptable);
  • Exposure to or basic experience assisting with needs assessments, developing training objectives, or supporting training activities;
  • Introductory understanding of public health preparedness concepts and designing, developing and coordinating public health preparedness plans (coursework or limited experience acceptable);
  • Experience assisting in designing, developing, coordinating, and evaluating internal and external exercises (coursework or limited experience acceptable);
  • Ability to assist with preparedness education under guidance from senior staff;
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports or summaries;
  • Ability to make oral presentations to small groups;
  • Proficiency with computers, email, office productivity software, and the ability to learn new automated systems;
  • Understanding of basic measurement or evaluation methods for assessing progress towards goals and objectives or plans;
  • Ability to communicate effectively within the agency and with community partners;
  • Ability to follow and apply rules, policies, and procedures with supervision and training.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer;
  • Ability to stand, climb stairs, and perform physical tasks such as loading supplies;
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, and sit on the floor for extended periods of time;
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times;
  • May be required to travel within the local service area.
