Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Employer Development & Engagement (Assistant Director) is a key member of the Office of Career Development & Professional Engagement which is housed in the Office of University Advancement at William & Mary.

Reporting to the Director of Employer Development & Engagement, the Assistant Director manages and implements the campus recruiting program for the Office of Career Development & Professional Engagement and is a liaison with recruiters and organizations interested in recruiting W&M students and alumni through in-person and virtual career activities. Core areas of responsibility include:
• Manage day-to-day communications with companies and organizations engaged in campus recruiting.
• Plan the annual Spring and Fall Career & Internship Fairs, the Graduate & Professional School Fair, Meet the Firms, STEM Career & Internship Fair, K-12 Education Recruitment Day, On-Campus Student Employment Fair, Expos and consortium events.
• Coordinate events and information sessions for employers and manage the technical functions within the campus recruiting system (Symplicity software).
• Ensure all staff are trained on the campus recruiting system and data is reported in a timely and efficient manner.
• Create annual, semesterly and ad-hoc recruiting reports as needed by the office.

The Assistant Director will work autonomously with limited supervision and direction in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The position will work with a diverse group of constituents, including employers, alumni, faculty, students, and university staff and administrators.

The Assistant Director will help foster a culture of belonging that embraces all people and perspectives. This position is based in Williamsburg and is expected to work in the office on campus. Salary: $40,000-$50,000, commensurate with experience.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or comparable education and experience.
  • General knowledge of the services, programs, and resources of a full-service career services office.
  • Knowledge of the on-campus recruitment process.
  • Experience with project and event management (typically, 2+ years).
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and a proven ability to establish rapport with students, faculty, alumni, and staff colleagues.
  • Technological proficiency and a willingness to embrace new technologies including managing databases and familiarity with career development platforms and software packages.
  • Effective organizational and management skills with ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks at once.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word);
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in a centralized career services office or role related in employer development & engagement.
  • Prior experience working in higher education.
  • Experience using career services management platforms or applications, e.g., Symplicity, 12Twenty, College Central Network, etc., (typically 1-2 years).
Conditions of Employment
  • This position is subject to additional hours beyond the typical workday, to include evenings and weekends.

Applies knowledge of research methods.
May require considerable knowledge of technology use within an educational environment.
Responsibilities include researching, developing, implementing, and evaluating education projects and providing services and support to local school divisions and state government.
Contacts include government officials, community and special interest groups, volunteers, businesses, teachers, administrators, and board members to coordinate and discuss project assignments, policy and program initiatives, and services.
