Responsibilities
- Review and approve move in and annual recertification files prepared by Compliance Specialists to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with program guidelines.
- Assist with file processing when needed.
- Provide clear feedback to Compliance Specialists on corrections, deficiencies, or improvements needed to maintain compliance standards.
- Serve as the first point of escalation for complex compliance questions, providing guidance to both site teams and compliance staff.
- Assist with preparing compliance reporting for investors, state agencies, and internal leadership.
- Support internal and external audit preparation by ensuring files are audit-ready and addressing findings promptly.
- Track compliance activity and reporting deadlines, and escalating concerns to Compliance Managers as needed.
- Mentor and support Compliance Specialists by sharing expertise, answering questions, and reinforcing best practices.
- Collaborate with Compliance Manager and Director to identify trends, training needs, and process improvements.
- Take on additional compliance-related projects and assignments to support business needs.
Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in affordable housing compliance, including knowledge of LIHTC and other housing program requirements.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and ensure accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback to junior staff.
- Experience reviewing files for investor, state agency, or internal compliance audits.
- Proficiency with property management and compliance software (e.g., Yardi, Rent Café) preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and accuracy.

Compensation and Benefits for Senior Compliance Specialist:Pay Range: $63,700 - $83,700 + Eligibility for competitive monthly commission for renewals.
