Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join the team at South Hills Middle School as a Title 1 Para. In this full-time position, you will work closely with students who require additional academic support, helping to create an inclusive and positive learning environment. Your role will involve assisting teachers in implementing instructional strategies and providing individualized support to enhance students' educational experiences.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to students, focusing on literacy, math, and other core subjects.
- Foster a positive and engaging classroom environment that encourages student participation and motivation.
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and other staff to develop and implement intervention strategies.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to student support and intervention.
- Assist with classroom management and behavior support as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in education, child development, or a related field is preferred. Requires two years of college, an AA degree, or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment (Praxis Exam).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping students succeed academically and socially.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from classroom teachers and administrators.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology tools.
This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law.
