Lifeguard (Summer Availability)

As a Lifeguard for the City of Twin Falls, you'll be part of a team that keeps our aquatic facilities safe, welcoming, and fun all summer long. In this role, you'll actively monitor pool activities, respond to emergencies, and help keep the overall facility safe and clean, all while promoting water safety in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

You'll work closely with fellow lifeguards, pool supervisors, and recreation staff, using sound judgment, teamwork, and strong communication skills to help ensure every patron has a safe and positive experience.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in and around the pool
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations
  • Perform preventive lifeguarding and enforce pool rules to keep everyone safe
  • Recognize signs of distress or unsafe behavior in the water
  • Administer first aid and assist with emergency response procedures
  • Work as part of a team to complete assigned tasks, including basic cleaning and facility upkeep
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patrons and coworkers
  • Listen to feedback and apply it to improve your performance
  • Perform related duties as needed
Pay
  • $12.00 - $14.00 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule
  • Seasonal position: May - September (with potential opportunity beyond summer)
  • 20-40 hours per week
  • Saturday and Sunday availability may be required

Required Qualifications
  • You must be at least 16 years of age
  • You must be able to pass a pre-lifeguard training swim test
  • You must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen
Pre-Employment Training

Pre-employment training is required and will be provided at no cost. Training standards are set by the American Red Cross and include:
  • Swim pre-test
  • Red Cross Lifeguard training
  • Practical skills assessment
  • Written examination
If you successfully pass all sections of training, you will become an American Red Cross-certified Lifeguard.

Training Schedule

If you are offered a position, required training will be held on the following days. You will be assigned to attend one of the following sessions. All classes are held at the Twin Falls City Pool. A pre-test is required before attending your assigned class.

Lifeguard Certification - Required

Session 1:
  • May 2, 9, & 16 (Saturdays)
  • 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Pre-test: April 8 or April 15, 4:00-5:00 PM
Session 2:
  • May 28, 29, & 30
  • 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Pre-test: May 5 or May 14, 4:00-5:00 PM
Session 3:
  • June 1, 2, & 3
  • 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Pre-test: May 18, 4:00-5:00 PM
