Migrant Paraprofessional

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Migrant Paraprofessional. This full-time position involves providing support to migrant students during school, ensuring they have access to educational resources and opportunities. This candidate will work closely with teachers and administrators to identify migrant students and create a schedule to support their needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in the classroom by providing support to migrant students in their learning and emotional well-being.
  • Facilitate communication between students, families, and school staff to ensure that all parties are informed and engaged.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation in programs and services.
  • Provide translation and interpretation services for non-English speaking families to enhance communication with the school.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in supporting migrant students.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Requires two years of college, an AA degree, or successfully completed the ParaPro Assessment (Praxis Exam).
  • Previous experience working with migrant populations or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in a second language, preferably Spanish, is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the challenges faced by migrant families and a commitment to advocating for their needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently as required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and needs within the school environment.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required for outreach activities.

This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment "at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.

All recommendations for hire are tentative offers. Employment is contingent upon board approval, and successful completion of a federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
