Assistant Manager

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate assistant manager to join our team at Robert Stuart Middle School. This position is 7 hours of work per day, focusing on preparing nutritious and delicious meals for our students. The ideal candidate will have a love for cooking, an understanding of food safety practices, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. As the assistant manager you will learn the responsibilities of the manager, lead by example and fill-in for the manager when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals and snacks in accordance with established recipes and nutritional guidelines.
• Ensure that all food is prepared and served in a safe and sanitary manner, following health and safety regulations.
• Assist in menu planning and food inventory management, ensuring that all ingredients are fresh and available.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation areas, including proper storage of food items.
• Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during meal service times.
• Monitor and maintain food quality and presentation standards.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities as needed.
• Adhere to all dietary restrictions and special requests from students and staff.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a cooking or food service role is a plus.
• Food safety and sanitation certification preferred, able to obtain on the job.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Must be able to lift and carry heavy items as needed.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing menus and dietary needs.
