This position was created to provide consistent control and check-in of all merchandise for the store. The store merchandiser is responsible for receiving of all gift, truckers accessory, and various other general merchandise. This is not inclusive and can also include any other store product which needs checked in or received. The merchandiser needs to be available to assist customers and backup the cashiers when the store is busy. Since this is part of the job description, this person should be trained on all store tills, and be familiar with cashier rules and procedures. This will enable better customer service and provide support for the cashier team. The merchandiser is essential to the security of the Travelers' Oasis employees, products and facility. This person should always be on the look out for suspicious characters, or shoplifters in or around the facility and should always be aware of what other employees are doing. Statistics show that 70% of retail theft is from employees. The merchandiser should be especially mindful of vendor error and take necessary steps to document and receive proper credits for missing product. Scan in all product as it comes to receiving either through UPS, FEDEX or vendor delivery. This part of the job is the sole responsibility of the Receiving Clerk during assigned hours for receiving with the Price Book Manager to provide backup.
The store merchandiser must have the following capacities:
Overview of daily tasks includes check-in product from various vendors, price and display merchandise, including cleaning areas before product placement. Coordinate all projects with store manager. Backup cashiers including relieving for lunch breaks. Work the tills when assigned. Help with coverage for vacations. Be available to help customers when necessary. Coordinate Ambest signage, check-in and placement of specials. Do inventory at the end of each month for Deli. Report waste for Deli monthly and hand in to Controller. Scan in all merchandise which comes in UPS, Fedex or delivered by a vendor. Order various product lines assigned by Store Manager. Be responsible for money in collection jars on cashier counters. Coordinate Ambest signage, check-in and placement of specials. Store merchandiser will report to either the store manager or shift manager on duty.
