Position DescriptionTilson is seeking Fiber Splicers to support our underground construction projects. Splicing crews will place cable in conduit and fusion splice fiber optic distribution cables into fiber enclosures. The ideal candidate will have fiber splicing experience as part of an OSP deployment, be safety focused, customer and quality oriented, with a strong work ethic and a positive, CAN-DO attitude.ResponsibilitiesSplice fiber optic cables including both loose tube and ribbon cables, including high count ribbon fiberConstruct proper splice cases and fiber termination panelsTroubleshoot and perform maintenance to resolve signal problemsOperate technical equipment, including computer, OTDR, power meters, and fusion splicing equipmentLift and manipulate splice enclosures and other plant equipmentInstallation and dressing of fiber optic cablingReading and interpreting existing fiber records, on maps or in the fieldRead splice and test results and provide timely reports to office teamUphold Tilson's safety values and ensure worksite safetyQualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent preferredDemonstrated experience with fiber optic cable splicing, testing and repairProficiency with tools including cable strippers, crimpers, and test equipmentAbility to complete testing and report results timelyStrong work ethic and desire to be a leaderValid US Driver's LicenseAble to work in a fast-paced environmentThe ability to work safely, with or without supervisionDemonstrated experience with both loose tube and ribbon splicing as well as high count fibersOSHA 10 certification preferredMust be at least 21 years of age to meet Tilson's driving eligibility requirements.BenefitsTilson provides a comprehensive benefits package emphasizing choice, health, wellness, and financial security.
