Parks Lead Operator

Description:

Join our team in beautifying and maintaining our city parks! We're looking for a Parks Lead Operator who will lead crews in various maintenance tasks, ensuring our parks remain safe and attractive for our community. This role serves as a crew leader to manage projects; guide, evaluate and monitor the work of others; and respond to problems or issues that may arise. Operates a variety of trucks, mowers, tractors, and equipment to construct, repair and maintain City parks, properties, and facilities. A snapshot of duties is below:

Responsibilities:

  • Lead maintenance crews in city parks.
  • Manage tasks such as irrigation, mowing, repairs, and cleaning.
  • Operate hand tools, power equipment, and heavy machinery.
  • Monitor contracted maintenance areas.
  • Inventory Park assets and ensure safety standards.
  • Organize tasks for plant and grass health.
  • Provide input for special events and emergencies.
  • Serve in an on-call rotation for emergencies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Some college credits in a related field preferred.
  • Three (3) years of parks maintenance experience, including two (2) years in a leadership role.
  • Strong management and organizational skills.
  • Any combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as ISA Arborist or CPRP P&R Pro.

Applicants must be in sufficient physical condition to perform the essential functions of the position which consists of continuous physical labor in all types of weather conditions, frequently lifting and/or moving 50 to 100 pounds. Final applicants will undergo a pre-employment drug screen and a background check which includes a review of both criminal and driving records. 

As a condition of continued employment, the applicant must possess or obtain the Idaho State Professional Applicator license within one year of hire.

Applicants must live within 25 miles of the City of Twin Falls.
