POSITION: Operator – Skilled Concrete Laborer

EXPECTED STARTING BI-WEEKLY SALARY: $1,348 - $1,618 GRADE: 6

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Under the direction of the supervisor or lead worker, this position performs a variety of skilled duties in the maintenance, repair and construction of new and existing city curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and ADA ramps to assure the safety of vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Performs a variety of duties such as cleaning and preparing sites, trenching, building forms, pouring and finishing of concrete to grade specifications, and removal and/or replacement of asphalt. Performs a variety of work, often involving heavy physical labor in an outdoor environment that may involve adverse weather conditions and related hazards; and all other job-related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate must be able to read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities. Candidates must also have general equipment experience with backhoes, excavators, loaders, dump trucks, jackhammers, etc.
Candidates must also have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, work safely, work well in a team setting with other employees and provide excellent customer service to the public; be in sufficient physical condition to perform heavy physical labor; and work one week of after hour emergency stand-by as part of an on-call rotation
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must have a high school education or equivalent; must reside within 15 miles of Twin Falls; must have a Class "A" C.D.L. or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
