EXPECTED STARTING BI-WEEKLY SALARY: $1,417 - $1,700 GRADE: 6
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Thursday 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Under the direction of a supervisor, this position performs heavy physical labor and, as needed, operates various vehicles and equipment (including, but not limited to pickup truck, hydraulic jet, rodder, vacuum unit, common hand and power tools, shovels) involved in the cleaning and maintenance of the City’s wastewater collection systems; responds to calls for service; completes preventative maintenance on equipment; keeps a record of all work orders on a computer tablet; and all other job-related duties as assigned. The duties of this position are performed in an outdoor environment which may involve adverse weather conditions as well as related health and physical hazards due to the nature of the work.
The successful candidate must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, observe proper safety precautions, establish effective working relationships with other employees and interact with the public in a fashion that promotes good public relations; be in sufficient physical condition to perform heavy physical labor; lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds; and work one week of after-hour emergency stand-by as part of an on-call rotation.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must have a high school education or equivalent; ability to use standard office computer programs; must reside within 15 miles of Twin Falls; must have a Class "A" C.D.L. with tanker and airbrakes endorsements or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire. In addition, the employee will begin working towards the Operator-In-Training (OIT) certification and must obtain certification as a Class I Waste Water Operator within one year from first testing date.
While many of the job functions are learned on the job, prior documented training or experience in the operation of specialized equipment, excavation, trench and construction skills are preferred.
