EXPECTED STARTING BI-WEEKLY SALARY: $1,324 - $1,589             GRADE: 5

WORK SCHEDULE:       Tuesday – Friday 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK:  Under the direction of a supervisor, this position accurately records water meter readings, services or makes minor repairs, and responds to high bill complaints, all to ensure efficient delivery of water and accurate billing. Additional responsibilities include minor repairs to frost plates, meter boxes or vaults; checking water pressure, reporting leaks, damages or unsafe conditions, and providing notification to property owners as requested. The duties of this position are performed in an outdoor environment which may involve adverse weather conditions as well as related health and physical hazards due to the nature of the work.

The successful candidate must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, observe proper safety precautions, establish effective working relationships with other employees and interact with the public in a fashion that promotes good public relations; be in sufficient physical condition to perform heavy physical labor; lifting and/or moving up to 80 pounds.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Applicant must have the following; a high school diploma or G.E.D.; a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record; must reside within 15 miles of Twin Falls; be licensed or begin working towards the Operator-In-Training (OIT) certification and must obtain certification as a Class I Water Operator within one year from first testing date. Additional requirements include the knowledge and ability to use technology and computers with a work order system, to enter data into a handheld system and the ability to read maps and utilize GPS.

Final applicants under consideration for the position will undergo a pre-employment drug screen and a background check which includes a review of both criminal and driving records.
